Role Overview:
Metric is looking for a Highway Engineer-in-Training to join our Lake Mary Highway Design group.  This position provides an opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and detail-oriented professional to join an established transportation consulting firm as an entry-level transportation engineer.  In this position, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team supporting various tasks and related deliverables for ongoing Roadway and Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Studies.

• Support the tasks of preparing cost estimates, project schedules and public presentation materials
• Assist project manager and project engineer in the preparation of engineering drawings and reports
• Assist in preparing roadway concepts in MicroStation (CADD)
• Become familiar with FDOT Guidelines and Design Standards

What you should bring:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• EI or EIT certification
• 1+ years of experience designing complex, major and minor highway projects
• Knowledge of roadway design utilizing FDOT CADD standards, vertical & horizontal geometry, electronic delivery, drainage/stormwater, utilities, signing and pavement markings, and signalization
• Skilled in use of Bentley MicroStation, GIS and Microsoft Office
• Experience using CorelDraw would be a plus
• Strong technical writing skills
• Ability to communicate with other team members both verbally and in writing, particularly where it relates to technical information
• Ability to organize projects and tasks while staying on schedule and meeting required deadlines
• AICP or PTP certification would be a plus
