Signal / ITS Inspector

The ITS Department is searching for an ITS Inspector for the San Juan, Puerto Rico area. This position requires a high school diploma plus at least 5 years in construction CEI, of which 3 are as an Inspector on Signalization and/or ITS projects. This position is responsible for coordinating with PRHTA personnel in addition to inspection duties. The position shall maintain records for progress of the final estimates during construction of the project. Candidate must have experience in the oversight of conduit and fiber optic cable installation as well as a basic understanding of Layer 2 networking.  A firm understanding of Construction specifications, Design Plans, policies and procedures is also desired. The following duties shall be the responsibility of the ITS Inspector:
  1. Assist in obtaining additional details or information, when required at the job site for proper execution of the work.
  2. Advise Project Administrator and Contractor of the commencement of any work requiring a Shop Drawing or sample submission if he observes that a submittal(s) has not been approved by Senior Project Engineer/Administrator.
  3. Conduct on-site observations of the work in progress to assist Project Administrator in determining if the work is proceeding in accordance with the Contract Documents and that completed work will substantially conform to the Contract Documents.
  4. Notify Contractor and report to Project Administrator whenever he believes that any work is defective.
  5. Notify Contractor and report to Project Administrator for determination of necessary action by Senior Project Engineer or Project Administrator when he believes work should be uncovered for observation, testing, inspection or approval.
  6. Verify that tests, equipment and systems start-ups and operating and maintenance instructions are conducted as required by the Contract Documents and in the presence of the required personnel and that Contractor maintains adequate records thereof; observe, record and report to Project Administrator appropriate details relative to the test procedures and start-ups.
  7. Report to Project Administrator when clarifications and interpretations of the Contract Documents are needed or requested.
  8. Keep a diary recording hours on the job site, weather conditions, data relative to questions of extras or deductions, lists of visiting officials and representatives of Suppliers, contractor's workers on-site by classification and hours of work, equipment on site each day, materials delivered to site and incorporated into project components, daily activities, decisions, and observations in general and specific observations in more detail as in the case of observing test procedures. Summarize such information on the daily diary and submit copies to Project Administrator.
  9. Assist Project Administrator with record keeping as directed by Project Administrator.
  10. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Advanced MOT
  • IMSA Level I Traffic Signal Inspection
  • IMSA Level II Technician (desired)
  • Concrete Level 1 (desired)
  • Final Estimates Level 1 (desired)
